Sending emails as an alias in outlook

Before you begin:

• An alias has been created for your account (Please read knowledge base article: Adding additional email addresses (alias) to a mailbox for a guide on how to add an alias to your account.)
• Access to outlook

Procedure:

1. In outlook click on 'Tools' and then 'Account Settings ...'
2. Under the email tab, click 'New' and then for the next option select if not already 'Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP' then click next.
3. At the bottom of the next screen, put a tick in Manually configure server setting or additional server types and then click next
4. Select 'Internet Email' and then click next
5. For the following screen place the following details:
   Your name:Name of the alias
   Email address: Email address of the alias
   Account type: IMAP
   Incoming mail server: mail.msexchange2007.com
   Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.msexchange2007.com
   Username: Your original username to log into outlook
   Password: Password for your original username to log into outlook.
6. Click on 'More settings ... ' and then click on outgoing server tab and place a tick for the option 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication'
7. Click on 'Advanced Tab' and then for the option 'Use the following type of encrypted connection' change it to auto for both choices and then change the outgoing server (SMTP) port from 25 to 587. After this has been done click ok.
8. Click test connection to test the settings you have placed, this should complete for both incoming and outgoing, if successfully click next and then finish to complete he setup.
9. Now when you send an email you should have a choice next to the send icon named Accounts which you can click which will give you an option on which account to send as

To be able to send as the alias as default you will need to go back into tools and then accounts, select the alias account in the list and then click set as default.
