Backing up your SharePoint site locally

Backing up your SharePoint site locally

Follow this procedure to back up your SharePoint site locally.

Before you begin:

Ensure a copy of Microsoft SharePoint Designer isĀ installed. Create a support ticket to request your copy if you haven't got it.

Procedure:

  1. Open Microsoft SharePoint designer and select File | Open Site from the main menu.
  2. Enter your Sharepoint site address in the site name box - ie: http://sp.yourdomain.com
  3. Enter your username and password when prompted (this is your sharepoint site username).
  4. When the site opens, select Tools -> Server -> Backup Web Site.
  5. If you have sub sites, tick the "Include sub sites in archive".
  6. Select a backup file name and click Save.
